3-4 lb chicken, cut up
1 1/3 cups orange juice, divided
1 bottle favorite barbecue sauce
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 tbsp grated orange peel
Place chicken in a resealable bag and pour 1 cup orange juice over chicken. Marinate in refrigerate for 1 hour; discarding juice. Place in a 13x9 inch baking pan, bone-side up.
Combine remaining orange juice and ingredients; blending well and pouring mixture over chicken. Bake, loosely covered with foil at 325 for 45 minutes. Turn chicken; baste again with sauce; continuing to bake for 30 minutes. Uncover, continue to bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, basting again or until chicken is done.
NOTE: For the grill flavor, transfer to chicken after the last 20 minutes to a grill to finish cooking over slow coals. Baste chicken with sauce and grill about 7-8 minutes; turning pieces and baste again. Continue grilling until fork tender.
