BALSAMIC-MARINATED SIRLOIN AND ASPARAGUS

1 1/4 lbs boneless top sirloin steaks, cut 1 inch thick
1 lb fresh asparagus, trimmed
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper

Marinade
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp chopped fresh basil
1 1/2 tsp Dijon-style mustard
1 clove garlic, crushed
1/2 tsp Salt and pepper, to taste

In a bowl, combine marinade ingredients. Place msteaks and 1/3 cup marinade in a resealable bag; turn to coat. Close bag securely and marinate in refrigerator for 15 minutes to 2 hours, turning occasionally. Cover and refrigerate remaining marinade.

Meanwhile, in a skillet, bring 1 inch of water to a boil; add asparagus. Reduce heat to low and cook asparagus until crisp-tender, 3-4 minutes and then drain.

In a shallow dish, combine asparagus and and reserved marinade; turn to coat an set aside.

Prepare grill for medium heat. Remove steak from marinade; discard marinade and grill, uncovered, desired doneness, 17 to 21 minutes; turn occasionally. During last 3 minutes of grilling, arrange asparagus on grid around steak and grill for 3 minutes, turning once. Season both with salt and pepper. Take steak off of grill and allow to rest. Carve cross-wise into slices. Serve with asparagus. Serves 4
