1 lb ground beef
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 cup minced onion
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
1 tsp dried oregano, crushed
1/2 tsp dried marjoram and basil, crushed
3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tbsp cornstarch
1/2 cup dry white wine or vermouth
8 slices Italian bread, 1/2 inch thick, toasted

Brown beef, garlic and onion; drain. Add tomato sauce, herbs cheddar cheese and 1 cup mozzarella cheese. Stir over low heat until the cheeses melt. Blend cornstarch with wine and stir into meat mixture. Cook, stirring, until thick and bubbly. Spoon a portion of over 2 slices toasted bread for each serving. Sprinkle top with remaining cheese. Serves 4
