Serves/Makes: 3 cups
Ready in: < 30 minutes

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 ounces semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, melted and cooled

Place the butter in a mixing bowl and beat on medium-high speed with an electric mixer for 5 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.

With the mixer running on low speed, slowly add the powdered sugar, scraping down the sides as needed.

Turn the mixer to medium-high again and add the vanilla and melted chocolate. Beat the chocolate buttercream frosting until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
