3 cups cake flour
3 cups sugar
1 cup butter
pinch salt
6 eggs, separated
1/2 pint sour cream
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla

Cream butter and sugar. Add unbeaten egg yokes one at a time, beat well after each yolk. Sift together flour and salt. Combine soda with sour cream and alternate it with flour into the creamed mixture. Add vanilla. Beat egg whites until stiff and carefully fold into batter. Bake in a large tube pan at 300 degrees for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
