1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
1/2 tsp baking soda, sugar and salt
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup water
2 tbsp vinegar
Coarsely ground pepper
Preheat oven to 37 In a large bowl, combine first 5 ingredients. Cut in butter until mixture resembles a coarse meal. Stir in cheese. Sprinkle with water and vinegar. Toss with a fork until a ball forms. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill at least 1 hour. Divide into 6 portions. On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion of dough into 8 inch circles. Cut into 8 wedges and place on greased baking sheet. Sprinkle dough lightly with pepper. Bake for 10-14 minutes or until golden brown and crisp. Cool on wire racks. Store in an airtight container. Makes 4 dozen.
