Olive oil
1 cup white or light bodies red wine
2 (6 oz) cans tomato paste
1 (28 oz) can roma tomatoes
1 medium red or yellow onion, chopped
1 medium red pepper, chopped
2 large cloves garlic, minced
2 1/2 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt and garlic powder
Pepper, to taste
6-8 shakes chili or cayenne pepper
2 tbsp fresh chopped basil,
3/4 cup thinly sliced black olives
1/2 tsp olive oil
In a stock pot, add some olive oil and saute garlic 2-3 minutes or until lightly golden. Add remaining ingredients except the last 3 ingredients. Simmer sauce for 1-4 hours. Add remaining 3 ingredients to sauce for a few minutes before end of cooking time.
