4 medium cooking apples, peeled, cored and cut in half
1/3 cup butter
1/2 to 3/4 cups sugar
1 tbsp + 1 tsp cornstarch
1 1/2 cups water
1/4 to 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Melt butter in a 10 inch skillet. Stir in sugar, cinnamon and cornstarch. Mix well and add water. Add apples to sauce. Cover and cook, occasionally spoon sauce over apples as they cook. Cook 12-15 minutes until apples are fork tender and sauce is thick. To serve, place 2 halves in dish and ladle 1/2 cup sauce over each serving.
