1 cup water
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup minced shallots
1 tsp ground 5 spice powder
Juice and zest of 1 orange
1/2 tsp chili flakes
4 large cloves garlic, scored
6 cuts sliced and peeled ginger, about 1/4 inch thick
1/2 tsp cracked pepper

1-2 lb Tri Tip Roast

Combine ingredients and marinade roast in refrigerate 2-6 hours. Remove roasted from marinade and reserve marinade. Insert a meat thermometer into the roast and grill until thermometer reaches 145 to 150 degrees, occasionally basting with marinade. Serves 4-5.
