1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup confectioners sugar
1 egg
1 tsp grated lemon peel
21 oz can cherry pie filling

Preheat oven to 350. Grease an 11x7 inch baking pan. Mix together dry ingredients; set aside. Beat butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. Beat in egg and lemon peel. Gradually mix in flour mixture. Remove 2/3 cup dough.

With flour fingers, gently pat remaining dough over bottom of prepared pan. Spread pie filling over dough to edges of pan. Roll reserved dough into 1 inch balls. Flatten balls slightly and place on pie filling. Bake for 30 minutes or until top is golden brown. Cool in pan and dust with confectioners sugar before cutting into bars.
