Crust:
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
11/2 cups sifted flour
Filling:
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 (6 oz) pkg butterscotch chips
2 tbsp butter
11/2-2 cup mixed salted nuts
Prepare crust by creaming brown sugar and butter together. Stir in flour. Press dough in bottom of greased 13x9 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 for 10 – 12 minutes or until lightly browned.
Prepare filling in top of double boiler by combining syrup, butter and butterscotch chips. Heat over hot water until chips are melted, stirring to blend thoroughly, or melt in microwave.
Sprinkle nuts on top of partially – baked crust, using a spoon to gently press them into the crust. Pour syrup over nuts and crust. Return to oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes. Cool in pan thoroughly. Cut at room temperature. Chilling will make cutting the bars very difficult.
