2 cups packed brown sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 lb butter
1/4 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp salt and baking soda
6 quarts popped popcorn
In a 2 1/2 quart saucepan, combine ingredients except baking soda and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring over medium high heat. Stir constantly, boiling rapidly about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add baking soda and salt, stirring quickly but thoroughly; pour all at once over popcorn in a large roasting or baking pan. Stir gently until all kernels are coated. Bake at 200 for 1 hour, stirring 2 or 3 times during baking. Turn out at once on wax paper, spread apart to cool completely. Break apart, store in tight covered container.
