*CHOCOLATE-NUT CARAMELS* - Easy

1 (11 1/2 oz) pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tbsp shortening
1 (14 oz) pkg caramels
5 tbsp butter
2 tbsp water
2 cups chopped peanuts

In a double boiler, melt chocolate hcips and shortening. Stir. Remove from heat and pour half into an 8 inch foil-line square pan going over the edges. Refrigerte 15 minutes. Return remaining chocolate on low heat.

Combine in a double-boil the remaining ingredients and stir until blended. Pour in chocolate-line pan. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Cut into squares.
