  • 2 cups light corn syrup
  • 2 1/4 cups brown sugar
  • 1 can (14 ounce size) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup butter
  • sea salt, optional

Completely line a 9x13 baking dish with foil letting the foil hang over the edges. Grease the foil generously.

Combine the corn syrup, brown sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly, and cook until the caramel reaches 240 degrees F on a candy thermometer (soft ball stage).

Remove the pan from the heat and immediately pour the mixture into the foil-lined pan. Sprinkle with sea salt, if desired. Let cool completely then invert the pan and remove the foil from the caramels.

Cut the caramel into individual pieces and wrap in waxed paper or plastic wrap. Store in an airtight container
