Ingredients
4 pounds of baking apples, peeled and sliced thin
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 package pie crusts (or use your own recipe)
1 egg white
2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar
Instructions
1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2.In a large bowl, combine apples, sugar and cinnamon.
3.In a 10-inch cast iron skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Once butter has melted, add brown sugar and stir constantly until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat.
4.Place 1 pie crust over brown sugar/butter mixture. Spoon apples on top of crust. Lay the other pie crust on top of apples.
5.Whisk the egg white until it is foamy. Brush the egg white on top of the pie crust and sprinkle the 2 tablespoons of cinn sugar on top.
6.Cut 4 or 5 slits in the pie crust to allow for steam to escape.
7.bake for 1 hour or until golden brown.
8.Cool before serving
