1 pound sirloin or chuck

Marinade:
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper
a pinch of 5 spice powder(optional)
1 teaspoon corn starch
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon wine

Sauce:
1/2 cup water
2 teaspoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon soy sauce

1/2 pound chinese broccoli*
2 tablespoon oil
(*Can substitute veggie of choice)

Preparing ahead:
Slice beef against the grain into large 1/2 slices. Combine with marinade and let stand for 1 hour.
Assemble sauce ingredients.

Wash broccoli and peel stems. Drop into a large pot of boiling water. Drain after 2 minutes. Rinse in cold water to cool.
Squeeze out excess water. Arrange broccoli in one direction on platter. Cut across twice.

Last minute cooking:
Heat 2 tablespoon oil in frying pan or wok until hot. Fry beef a single layer at a time,less than 1 minute on each side. Arrange pieces over broccoli. Add sauce ingredients to the oil left in the pan. Heat until thickened. Pour over beef and serve hot.
