  • 1 loaf (8 ounce size) French baguette
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon onion salt

Slice baguette in half horizontally; cut widthwise into one inch wide sticks. Set aside.

Melt butter in a 12 inch skillet; stir in basil, garlic powder and onion salt. Add half the crouton sticks; saute until coated.

Arrange in a single layer in an ungreased jelly roll pan; repeat with remaining crouton sticks. Bake at 300 degrees F for 25 to 30 minutes. Flip crouton sticks halfway through baking.

Cool completely. Store in an airtight container up to 3 days or freeze up to 3 months.
