Serves/Makes: 4
Ready in: < 30 minutes
- oil, for frying
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
- 3 cups crushed corn chips
- 4 (6 ounce size) top round steaks (tenderized)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350 degrees F. Whisk together the eggs and milk in a shallow bowl and set aside. In another shallow bowl, combine the flour, black pepper, and garlic until well mixed. Place the crushed corn chips in a third shallow bowl. Dip the tenderized steak into the flour mixture to coat evenly and shake off any excess. Then dip the steak into the egg mixture to completely coat. Let the excess egg drip off. Press the steaks into the corn chip crumbs so the crumbs adhere to both sides and are evenly coated. Carefully place the steaks in the hot oil (in batches if needed) and cook on both sides until golden brown. Remove the chicken fried steaks from the oil with tongs, letting any excess oil drip off (you can place them on paper toweling to drain first if desired) and place on a baking sheet. Place the baking sheet in the oven for 15 minutes at 350 degrees F. Serve the corn chip chicken fried steaks hot with cream gravy if desired.
