This is more like fried grits rather than a flatbread like Maw Maw’s squaw bread. (Her term)

Yield: 4 pieces

4 -5 pieces of leftover baked cornbread
1/2 to 1 cup vegetable oil
maple syrup

Slice cornbread in half horizontally, placing the baked sides up on a plate. Heat pan on medium, pouring oil in once it's hot. Fry each piece on baked side first. Flip, fry on other side. Serve with warmed maple syrup.
