Category: Biscuits & Bread
Prep Time:       Cook Time:       Total Time:

1 cup white flour
1 cup cornmeal
Pinch of salt
Water
vegetable shortening
An iron skillet for frying

Mix the flour, cornmeal, and salt together. Add enough water to make a batter about as thick as pancake batter. Make sure to get all the lumps out. Fry in melted shortening (she used Crisco) until browned on both sides, turning mid-way through frying. Drain on towels and serve warm or at room temperature.

Maw Maw always served this with a big pot of pinto beans and sliced sweet onion... One of her favorite meals.
