  • 5 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 6 tablespoons white or balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

In a large bowl, gently toss together the tomatoes, onion, sugar, basil, thyme, salt, black pepper, oil, vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce.

Cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator for one hour.

Serve the salad on lettuce-lined salad plates.
