Remove all but the innermost layer of husks. The kernels should be covered by, but visible through, the innermost layer. Use scissors to snip off the tassel at the tip of the ear. Grill the corn over medium-hot firm, turning the ears every 11/2 - 2 minutes, until the husk picks up the dark silhouette of kernels and begins to pull away from the top of the ear, about 8-10 minutes. The corn is ready to come off the grill. Transfer the corn to a platter. Carefully remove and discard the charred husks and silk. Season with salt, pepper and butter. Serve immediately.
