2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 1/2 lbs chicken, cut into serving pieces
1 cup water
2 tbsp packed brown sugar and vinegar
1 1/2 tbsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 medium green cabbage, sliced coarsely
1 tsp caraway seeds

Heat oil in a Dutch oven and brown chicken pieces on both sides.

In a small bowl, combine next 5 ingredients and pour mixture over chicken; cover and simmer about 20 minutes. Add cabbage and caraway seeds and cook, covered, about 20 minutes or until cabbage is tender.
