BOUR-BQ-SAUCE

1/4 cup butter and oil
2 medium onions, minced
1 tsp minced garlic
3/4 cup bourbon
2/3 cup ketchup
1/2 cup cider vinegar, orange or lemon juice and pure maple syrup
1/3 cup unsulfured dark molasses
1/2 tsp dry mustard
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp salt and pepper

Heat butter and oil in a saucepan. Add onions and saute for 5 minutes or until they begin to turn golden. Mix in remaining ingredients; reduce heat to low, and cook mixture until it thickens, approximately 40 minutes. Stir frequently.

NOTE: Can be stored in the refrigerator for a couple of weeks.
