Vanilla ice cream
1 (1 lb) can pitted sweet dark cherries
1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
1/4 tsp ground cloves
2 tbsp butter and brown sugar
1 tsp grated orange peel
1/4 cup kirsch or cherry brandy.
On a cookie sheet, pre freeze several scoops of vanilla ice cream. Drain cherries, reserving liquid. Combine reserved liquid with cornstarch, and cook until thickened. Add next 4 ingredients and heat to a boiling point. Heat brandy to almost a simmer, and add to sauce. Combine the cherries with the sauce and serve warm over the ice cream.
