MUD PIE

Category: Pies - Cream and Custard

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/3 cup flour and cocoa
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 cup chopped nuts, optional
1/4 cup hot fudge sauce
1 cup whipped topping
2-3 tbsp hot fudge sauce

Preheat oven to 325. Grease bottom and side of a 9 inch pie plate. Stir together first 8 ingredients. Pour into pan. Bake 25-30 minutes or until edge appears dry and toothpick inserted halfway between center and edge comes out clean.

Immediately prick holes in pie with toothpick and spread 1/4 cup fudge sauce over top. Cool completely. Spread whipped topping over fudge sauce. Drizzle with remaining sauce. Cover and refrigerate any remaining pie.
