1/2 cup butter and sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup flour
1 can condensed milk
2 tbsp butter
2 tsp vanilla
1 (1 oz) square unsweetened chocolate
2 tbsp butter
1 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
IN a mixing bowl, beat the first 3 ingredients until thoroughly combined. Stir in flour. Press into bottom of an ungreased 13x9 inch baking dish. Bake at 350 for 15 minuets or until edges are lightly browned.
In a medium saucepan, heat milk and butter until bubbly, stirring constantly. Cook and stir for 5 minutes more. (Mixture will thicken and become smooth.) Bake 12-15 minutes or until golden.
Icing: In a saucepan, heat chocolate and 2 tbsp butter until melted, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; stir in sugar and vanilla. Stir in enough water (1-2 tbsp) to make icing of pouring consistency. Spread over warm cookie and immediately cut into bars. Cool.
NOTE: Can substitute 1 (6 oz) pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips for fudge icing. Sprinkle pieces over cookie immediately after removing form oven. Let stand 2-3 minutes or until softened and spread evenly over top. Cool; chill 5-10 minutes or until chocolate layer is set. Cut into bars.
