2 cups flour
3/4 cups packed brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp cloves
1/8 tsp nutmeg
3/4 cup canned pumpkin
1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled
1/4 cup buttermilk
2 eggs, lightly beaten
3 tbsp molasses
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup coarsely chopped nuts
3/4 cup chopped dates, optional

Preheat oven to 400. Lightly grease muffin pans. In a large bowl, stir together 1st 9 ingredients. In another bowl, stir together pumpkin and next 5 ingredients until blended.

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients; add pumpkin mixture and stir just to combine. Stir in the pecans and dates. Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups and bake for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove to wire rack to cool. Cool for 5 minutes before removing muffins from pan and finish cooling on rack.
