1 cabbage, shredded
4 tbsp butter
3 tbsp bacon stock or water
Pinch nutmeg or mace
1/2 tsp flour
Salt pepper

Melt half the butter in a heavy pot; add cabbage and toss until covered with butter. Add bacon stock, cover and cook gently for about 20 minutes or until the liquid is nearly absorbed and the cabbage is cooked. Add the nutmeg and flour. Stir well. Add remaining butter and toss until melted into cabbage. Season with salt and pepper. Servs 4-6
