1/2 cup butter
2 cups sugar
2 cups coarsely chopped pecans
10 cups popped popcorn

In a skillet, combine butter and sugar; cook, stirring constantly, until sugar is golden brown and reaches hard ball stage, 250 degrees on candy thermometer. Add pecans; mix well.

Continue cooking, stirring frequently, just until mixture is brown and reaches a soft crack stage, 290 degrees on candy thermometer. Immediately remove from heat and stir in popped popcorn; mix until well blended.

Spread mixture evenly onto two large buttered cookie sheets; cool. Break into pieces. Store in airtight container.
