HERBAL BEER BREAD

3 cups self-rising flour
3 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp dried herbs or 2 tbsp fresh herb blend
12 oz warm beer (room temperature)
3 tbsp butter
Preheat oven to 350. Generously butter a loaf pan (about 1 tbsp butter) and set aside.
Combine flour, sugar, and herbs in a 2-quart bowl. Stir briefly to mix thoroughly. Add beer and gently fold it into dry ingredients just until the mixture is evenly moistened, do not over-mix. Pour the mixture into the pan and dot with the remaining butter.
Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is lightly browned. Remove from oven and serve immediately with an herbed butter or cheese spread.
NOTE: Great with hearty dishes like gumbo, stew, or pasta. Cut thick slices and serve hot from the oven.
