Ready in: 2-5 hrs

  • 1 (9x13-inch) baked and cooled white or yellow cake
  • 2 packages (4 serving size) flavored Jell-o gelatin powder, any flavor
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • Cool Whip or frosting
  • pie filling or fruit, optional

Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes in the cake spaced 1/2-inch apart. The holes should be at least half the depth of the cake deep.

Combine the gelatin powder and boiling water and mix until the gelatin is fully dissolved. Let the gelatin mixture cool then spoon it evenly over the cake. Do not pour the gelatin over the cake.

Place the cake in the refrigerator and let it chill for 3-4 hours.

When ready to serve, spread Cool Whip or other frosting over the top of the cake. Garnish the Jell-o poke cake, if desired, with fruit or pie filling.
