Low Potassium Tangy BBQ Sauce

2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups pureed roasted red peppers
1/2 cup yellow mustard
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup steak sauce
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup honey
1 teaspoon hot sauce (or more)
1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
2 tablespoons tamarind paste (can be found at any Asian store)
3 tablespoons oil (canola oil)
1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
4 garlic cloves, finely minced
