Serves/Makes: 4
Ready in: 30-60 minutes
- 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 2 pounds ground top sirloin
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
- salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 3 tablespoons butter
- hamburger buns
Combine the celery and broth in a saucepan over medium heat. Let simmer for 10 minutes or until the celery is soft. Drain well and let the celery cool. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Combine the celery, beef, bread crumbs, Worcestershire sauce, nutmeg, salt and pepper in a bowl. Mix well but do not overwork the meat. Form the meat into equal-sized patties. Heat the butter in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat. When melted, add the burgers and cook for 6 minutes per side. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 6-8 minutes for medium rare, 8-10 minutes for medium. Remove from the oven and serve on toasted hamburger buns with your favorite condiments.
