Ingredients
2 cups self rising flour [*see note]
1 1/2 Tbsp sugar
1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream plus 2 Tbsp
2/3 cup cooked and crumbled bacon [around 6-8 strips]
2/3 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
2 Tbsp cream to brush the tops
Instructions
1.Preheat the oven to 450F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
2.In a mixing bowl sift together the sugar and flour. Add the 1 1/2 cups plus 2 tablespoons of cream.
3.Stir together just until moistened then add the shredded cheese and bacon.
4.Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and using floured hands, pat into a rough circle about 1/2-3/4 inch thick. Do not knead this dough.
5.Use a 3 inch biscuit cutter dipped in flour to cut the biscuits rounds.
6.Place onto the baking sheet.
7.Brush the tops with additional cream .
8.Bake for 12-13 minutes until golden.
9.Serve hot
Notes
*Self-rising flour substitute: For each cup of all-purpose flour, add 1 1/4 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
