Roasted Pears With Maple-Orange Sauce

6 bosc pears
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons sugar
3/4 cup pure maple syrup
2 tablespoons Grand Marnier or other orange flavored liqueur
1/2 cup heavy cream

Heat oven to 425 degrees. Peel pears and cut in half lengthwise. Using a melon baller or small spoon, scoop out core. Place each pear half, cut side down, in a metal roasting pan on a baking sheet with sides.

Brush pears with half of melted butter. Sprinkle with sugar. Brush again with melted butter. Roast pears 15 minutes. Brush again with melted butter or with any juices that have collected in roasting pan. Roast another 15 minutes. Flip pears over so cut side is face up. Baste again. Roast another 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, combine maple syrup and Grand Marnier in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat. Cook until reduced to 1/2 cup, about 10 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat. Stir in heavy cream.

Arrange 2 pear halves on each plate, and pour some sauce over pears.
Serves 6.
