Provolone Onion-Bacon Burgers
1 1/2 lbs. ground chuck
8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
2 tbsps. worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 tsps. minced garlic
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
1/4 tsp. salt
4 good hamburger buns, split and toasted
4 slices provolone cheese
1 recipe Sauteed Onions and Mushrooms, recipe follows
In medium bowl, mix ground chuck, bacon, worcestershire sauce, garlic, pepper and salt.
Form mixture into 4, 4 inch patties. Grill covered with grill lid, over medium high heat , 350 to 400 degrees, for 5 to 6 minutes or until desired degree of doneness.
Serve on hamburger buns with provolone cheese and Sauteed Onions and Mushrooms
Sauteed Onions and Mushrooms:
2 tbsps. butter
2 tbsps. olive oil
2 tsps. minced garlic
1 container sliced baby portobello mushrooms, 8 ozs.
1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
1/4 cup dry white wine
2 tsps. chopped fresh thyme
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
In large skillet, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat until butter is melted. Add garlic and cook for 1 minutes, stirring constantly. Add mushrooms and onion and cook, covered for 5 minutes.
Remove lid, and cook for 10 minutes stirring frequently. Add wine, thyme, salt and pepper. cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until wine evaporates.
Serves 4.
