  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons dry sherry
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon five spice powder
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh grated ginger root
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Combine all the ingredients in a glass bowl and whisk well to combine. Use immediately or store in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Use as a basting sauce while cooking beef, chicken, pork, or shrimp.
