7 lbs green tomatoes sliced 1/4 inch thick
3 cups lime dissolved in 2 gallons cold water
5 lbs sugar
2 quarts white vinegar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pickling spice
1 tsp mustard seed
7 whole cloves

Soak in stone jar for 24 hours the sliced tomatoes in lime water. Drain and soak in fresh water 4 hours, changing every hour. Drain. Mix in large kettle the sugar, vinegar, salt and spices tied in a cheese cloth bag. Bring to boil and pour over tomatoes. Let stand overnight. Boil for 1 hour and seal in hot jars.
