Beef BBQ sauce

1 cup finely chopped onion
3 cloves garlic, minced
3 Tbsp olive oil
1/2 cup each, beef broth and cider vinegar
3/4 cup maple syrup
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
3 Tbsp chili powder
1 1/2 cup tomato sauce or tomato ketchup
1/2 tsp salt
2 jalapeno chili peppers, seeded and minced
Cook onion and garlic in olive oil in a non-reactive saucepan until tender. Add beef broth, vinegar, syrup, Worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce, chili powder, salt and chili peppers. Bring to a boil and simmer 30 minutes. Serve immediately or refrigerate up to 2 weeks.
