This recipes is one my mother passed down to me. There is one step to brown cubed steaks, don't leave this step out!
This dish is comfort food at it's finest, made easier by my friend the crock pot!
Serve with garlicky Yukon Gold Smashed potatoes
serve 4
Ingredients
4 cubed steaks
3/4 cup all-purpose flour-enough to dredge cube steaks
salt & pepper to taste
1 large onion sliced
1 clove of garlic pressed
1/4 cup chopped parsley
1 cup sliced celery
1 28 oz. can of stewed tomatoes
1 (10.75 oz) can of low sodium cream of mushroom
1/4 cup ketchup
Directions:
Season the flour with salt & pepper to taste.
Coat the cubed steaks with the flour.
In a large skillet heat 2 Tablespoons oil over medium high heat.
Brown off the cube steaks on both sides.
Remove the meat from the skillet and
place in a 5 qt crock pot insert.
Pour the stewed tomatoes into the skillet and stir until all the brown bits are off the bottom.
Add the celery and onions to the crock pot.
Pour the stewed tomatoes, cream of mushroom soup & ketchup over the meat and veggies.
Cook on HIGH for 4-6 hours or until meat is tender.
Serve over garlicky smashed Yukon Gold potatoes.
