Prep Time: Cook Time: Total Time:
Makes 4 servings.
1 lb. lean ground beef
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. water
3/4 c. diced onions
1 tsp. beef bouillon crystals
12 dinner rolls, 2 1/2″ square
dill pickle slices
In a large mixer bowl, combine ground beef, salt and 1/2 cup of the water.
Mix on medium speed until water and salt are blended through ground beef; meat should look a little pasty.
Line an 11 x 13-inch rimmed baking sheet with plastic wrap.
Place ground beef in middle; flatten out and top with another piece of plastic wrap.
Roll ground beef out to 1/4″ thick; remove plastic wrap and cut meat into 12 3-inch patties.
Perforate each patty five times with the end of a plastic straw to provide steam holes.
Cover with plastic wrap and place in freezer until patties are partially frozen but not solid.
In fry pan, combine onions, beef bouillon, and 1/2 cup water.
Saute over medium low heat, stirring until onions are clear.
Turn heat off until ready to cook hamburger patties.
When beef patties are ready to cook, turn fry pan on medium-low heat; add enough water to cover bottom of fry pan.
Preheat broiler in oven
Place patties in fry pan and cover with lid - fry for 10 to 15 seconds.
Turn patties and cook until done but not dry.
When patties are finished cooking, place each on top of a dinner roll.
Add a teaspoonful of onion and a slice of pickle.
Transfer to baking sheet; cover and place under broiler just for a few seconds before serving.
