  • 1 cup rice
  • 2 1/4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1/4 onion, minced
  • 2 1/4 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon marjoram
  • 2 3/4 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Rinse the rice in cold water and drain. Melt butter in a large skillet and saute the garlic and onion over medium heat until onions are translucent.

Add all the remaining ingredients, bring to boil and cook for 2 minutes. Reduce the heat, cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes or until the water has just evaporated.

Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
