1 lb ground beef, Italian sausage or 1 oz prosciutto or country ham, cut into strips
1 medium onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 green bell pepper, chopped
Salt and pepper
1/4 tsp oregano and basil
2 cups spaghetti or pizza sauce
1 cup water
2 oz pepperoni, chopped
1 (8 oz) pkg large shell pasta, macaroni or curly egg noodles, cooked and drained
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 pkg Italian-style spaghetti sauce mix
In a skillet, cook first 4 ingredients until thoroughly cooked, stirring frequently. Drain. Stir in next 6 ingredients. Bring to a boil. Cover; reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Stir in noodles and pepperoni. Top with cheese. Cover and cook over low heat 5 minute or until cheese melts.
Variations: (1) After cooking the first 4 ingredients, divide into 2 cake pans, then layer each pasta, then spaghetti sauce and finally cheese. Add additional toppings favorite pizza toppings. Bake at 375 for 16 minutes. Serves 6-8
(2) For a more pizza style: After draining cooked pasta, add 1 beaten egg to the macaroni and pour onto a cookie sheet. Top with meat sauce and spread evenly over macaroni. Sprinkle with cheese and top with pepperoni slices and any other favorite pizza toppings. Bake at 325 for 15 minutes. Cool and slice into squares.
(3) Use 8 oz each mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese, half cubed and half shredded.
After macaroni has been cooked and drained, put back into pan and stir in the cubed cheese, mixing well until the cheese starts to melt. Stir in desired pizza toppings inch and sprinkle with parmesan cheese, mixing well. Pour into casserole and top shredded cheeses. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes.
