Cracker Barrel Biscuits

- 2 cups White Lily self-rising flour
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 2/3 cup buttermilk
- melted butter
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Place the flour in a large bowl. Cut in the shortening with a pastry blender or fork until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add the buttermilk and mix well for 1 minute. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface. Cut as desired with biscuit cutters. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake at 450 degrees F for 8 minutes. Remove from the oven and brush immediately with the melted butter. Serve biscuits warm.
