Serves/Makes: 12
Ready in: 2-5 hrs

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • freshly grated Parmesan cheese (additional)

Add the water, flour, salt, olive oil, sugar, yeast, garlic, Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning to the bread machine pan in the order recommended by your machine manufacturer.

Set the bread machine to the dough setting.

When the dough cycle is done, remove the dough to a lightly floured work surface. Divide the dough in half and form each half into a ball. Roll out each dough ball into a circle and place on pizza pans (or baking sheets) sprinkled with a little bit of cornmeal so the crusts don't stick.

Sprinkle the pizza dough with additional Parmesan cheese, if desired. Cover the pizza dough lightly with a damp towel or greased plastic wrap. Let the dough rise in a warm, draft free location for 1 hour (or you can place it in the refrigerator overnight).

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.

Remove the cover from the pizza dough and place in the oven. Bake at 450 degrees F for 5-10 minutes or until lightly browned.

Remove the crusts from the oven and let cool.

You can use the Boboli style crusts immediately or when they are completely cool, wrap them in plastic wrap or aluminum foil, making sure it is tightly sealed. Finally, place the wrapped crusts in resealable freezer bags and store them in the freezer. When you're ready to use the crusts, remove them from the freezer and let thaw to room temperature before adding your toppings and baking.

To bake a pizza using the Boboli-style pizza crust, preheat your oven to 425 degrees F. Once the oven is preheated, place the crust on a baking sheet or pizza stone. Spread your desired toppings over the crust, leaving a small border around the edges. Be mindful not to overload the toppings as it will make the crust soggy and the pizza will take longer to cook.

Once your toppings are added, place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 8-12 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. It's also important to keep an eye on the pizza while it's baking, as ovens can vary and the cooking time may need to be adjusted.

Once the pizza is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
