3 cups flour
1cup shortening (Crisco)
1 large egg
1 Tablespoon vinegar
1 1/4 teaspoon salt
6 Tablespoon
4 apples,cut into eights

Mix flour,salt,and shortening until crumbly.Combine beaten egg, water,and vinegar and add to flour mixture. Form into a ball and roll out on a lightly floured pastry sheet. Cut pastry into small rectangles (32) to fit around the apple slices and lap over enough to seal firmly. Place the npastry covered apple slices into a baking dish.Cover with the following sauce and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.

1 1/2 stick butter
2 cups sugar
3 cups cold water
1 1/2 teaspoon

Cook on stove or in microwave until the butter and sugar are melted and the mixture is well blended.Pour over the apples and bke as directed. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Note: The pastry -apples can be prepared in the refrigerator until ready to bake. Do not add the sauce until ready to bake.
