Hamburger Soup with Barley

- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup sliced celery
- 2 cans (15 ounce size) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 cup sliced carrots
- 1 cup peeled and diced potatoes
- 3 ounces uncooked barley
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 cups beef broth
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef, celery, and onion. Cook, stirring, until the beef is cooked through. Drain off excess grease. Add the beef mixture to the crock pot. Add the remaining ingredients to the crock pot. Cover the crock pot and cook on low heat for 4-6 hours or until the potatoes and barley are tender.
