special french toast

8 to 12 bread slices
4 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp baking soda

1.Separate bread slices to allow to dry out
2.Spray or add a small amount of oil or butter to the griddle. Begin to heat griddle so water droplets will sizzle.
3.In a flat pan (pie pan)---combine the rest of the ingredients
4.Quickly dip slices (DO NOT SOAK) in the egg mixture
5.Cook on a hot griddle (sizzles when water is flicked on griddle) until golden brown on both sides
6.Keep egg mixture stirred and spices well blended
7.To serve-sprinkle with powdered sugar and top with syrup
