Beef Moussaka

Ready in: 1-2 hrs
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 can (14 ounce size) tomato sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cooked
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/3 cup milk
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Brown beef and onion in large saucepan. Add tomato sauce and seasonings. Bring to boil and simmer, covered , for about 20 minutes. Slice cooked potatoes about 1/4 inch thick; arrange half of them in greased casserole. Cover with meat/tomato sauce mixture and top with rest of potatoes. Beat eggs and milk together and pour over potatoes. Sprinkle with cheese and bake in 350 degrees F oven for about 45 minutes. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving. Note: you can substitute ground lamb for beef.
